Designed to be fixed permanently in position, usually right next to, or near to the patients' bed, our 'WISKAWAY'® 6000H Wall Bed can be whisked away effortlessly, (in literally seconds, in an emergency for instance), complete with all the bedding and even the pillows, into a neat, unobtrusive, integral housing.

This eliminates the need for staff to trundle temporary beds to and fro and make them up/unmake them each evening/morning and leads to various Health & Safety and Manual Handling benefits as well as to substantial cost savings over time - (including significantly reduced laundry bills).

A marked improvement in the appearance and spaciousness of the wards/bays/cubicles in which our 'WISKAWAY® Wall Beds are used, is a further bonus, with obvious advantages for patients, relatives, nursing/medical and even the cleaning staff.

To complement our 'WISKAWAY'® 6000H Wall Beds, we offer a choice of high specification foam, or interior sprung Mattresses, all wipe-clean/waterproof and flame retardant to Ignition Source 5. Source 7 mattresses are also available.

The 'WISKAWAY'® 6000H Wall Bed comes complete with wipe-clean, flexible bedding retaining straps. These are permanently attached to the wall side of the bed and are simply stretched across, when the bed has been made in the morning and hooked on to the opposite side, to hold the mattress and all the bedding, including the pillows, securely in place, when the bed is folded away.

Because the 'WISKAWAY'® 6000H is counterbalanced, it must be securely fixed to the wall.

In addition to the standard 'WISKAWAY'® 6000H we are able to offer a special version, the ‘WISKAWAY’® 6000HR 'RADIATOR' Wall Bed, originally developed for the new Bristol Royal Children's Hospital, which can be sited in front of radiators, thus cleverly making use of wall space which would otherwise be unusable, whilst still allowing full access to the radiators behind, for cleaning and maintenance, etc.

When required, the wall fixings at one end of the bed can be unlocked, allowing the bed to swing out of the way, complete with backing board, on castors and hinged wall-fixings on the other end, to expose the radiator behind.

Please also see the Case studies featuring the Bristol Royal Children’s Hospital and Kings College Hospital in London, for examples of the ‘WISKAWAY’® 6000H in use.

Although we offer a whole range of Horizontal wallbeds, our high performance, heavy-duty 'WISKAWAY'® 6000H Wall Bed has proved to be the most popular for healthcare applications (where the Vertical 7500H is not suited, due to the configuration of the space) and is specifically designed for use in Hospitals and Hospices. It will comfortably cope with loadings of up to 200Kg, for single beds and 400Kg for doubles, will give years of trouble-free service and is GUARANTEED FOR A FULL 5 YEARS.

The 'WISKAWAY'® 6000H Wall Bed provides the ultimate solution in terms of Health & Safety, Manual Handling, Infection Control, durability, comfort, convenience and space-efficiency, to accommodating parents overnight on Children's Wards, fathers on Maternity units, relatives and partners on adult Hospital Wards and in Hospices, as well as on-call GP's and other medical, theatre and laboratory staff.

The client list for our ‘WISKAWAY’® 6000H Wall Beds includes Children’s units in General Hospitals up and down the country, as well as dedicated Children’s Hospitals such as Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, the new Children’s Hospital at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Newcastle, the new Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and the new Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. The ‘WISKAWAY’® 6000H is also used in Hospices.

The 'WISKAWAY'® 6000H Wall Bed comes in a variety of standard and made-to-measure single and double sizes, in a choice of 15 bedframe colours, with housings in a wide selection of finishes, ranging from wipe-clean MFC and Plastic Laminates to real veneers.

Matching (optional) lockers/wardrobes, and other complementary furniture are also available - full details on request. (See also the Kings College Hospital Case study).

Special features of the ‘WISKAWAY’® 6000H Wall Bed include a super-strong, heavy-duty, hand-welded, powder-coated, tubular steel frame for extra durability and a unique pre-tensioned, firm, woven-steel mesh base, (no wooden slats, or 'foundations' to break), which is guaranteed never to sag, or unravel and allows air to circulate freely around the mattress and bedding, even when the bed is folded away. Automatically opening and retracting front legs and full counterbalancing, make for safe, smooth and easy operation.

Another special feature of the Horizontal 'WISKAWAY’'® 6000H is the gas-strut-assisted lift-up top, for added comfort and convenience, when the bed is in use.
